The trends in kitchen design are always
changing, sometimes it is hard to keep track. This is why the experts
at Pyramid Group LLC present to you the upcoming trends for kitchen
décor in 2014.
- Out with the old – Upper kitchen cabinets have become so common over the last few decades that it is hard to imagine a kitchen without them. But the new trend is exactly that, removing the upper cabinets in lieu of wall mounted lighting or other decorative fixtures. Stainless steel is another popular aesthetic that has gone the way of the dodo.
- High contrast – The stark white kitchen with black fixtures and trim is an old favorite that will never die. High contrast with any color is a very appealing kitchen décor.
- A big backsplash – With the removal of upper cabinets, full wall slab backsplashes are becoming very popular. This draws more attention to the natural beauty of the backsplash, and features it more than the appliance in front of it.
- Bright lights – Bright lighting in kitchens is key, no matter the size. In smaller kitchens it can actually make the space feel larger. Sconce lighting has moved from the hallway and into the kitchen as a very prominent decorative and lighting feature.
- Brass, old gold and black hardware – The chrome finish of stainless steel and nickel is no-longer the standard for kitchen hardware. The warm colors these metals is becoming more popular, these colors are even becoming more popular for oven hoods.
- Natural colors and country flair – Large cast iron sinks have never gone out of style and farmhouse tables have become high-end. The naturally stressed wood has made its way into the most modern kitchens, giving it a hint of warmth and softness.
